We’re excited to invite you to take part in the 2026 Aiming Higher Hiking Challenge this June as we summit one of the Lake District’s most iconic mountains — Helvellyn!

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗔𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿

Aiming Higher is a North West-based charity established in 2011, dedicated to transforming the lives of disabled children and their families through vital support, activities and respite care. Your participation and support allow the charity to continue making a real and lasting difference.

Following the success of last year’s challenge, we’re ready to go even higher in 2026!

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆𝗻?

Standing at 950 metres (3,116 feet), Helvellyn is England’s third-highest mountain and one of its most celebrated summits. With dramatic scenery, sweeping ridgelines and far-reaching views, it promises a true mountain adventure.

Starting from Swirls Car Park on the Thirlmere side, our route climbs steadily via Browncove Crags and Helvellyn Lower Man before reaching the summit plateau. This carefully chosen ascent avoids the exposed Striding and Swirral Edges, offering a challenging yet accessible experience for walkers with a good level of fitness.

Expect breathtaking views across Thirlmere, Ullswater, Skiddaw and the wider Lake District as you make your way to the top.
